Your Base Camp for Spring
In the spring, while waiting for the road to open, you’ll put on your snowshoes or ski tour equipment and make your way up to the refuge.
Depending on snow conditions and your physical fitness, it will take you between two to four hours to reach the Refuge du Pré de Madame Carle from the Claux Tunnel in Pelvoux.
Feel free to contact us for up-to-date access conditions to the refuge.
From the refuge, a wide selection of ski tours awaits you:
Ski across the Glacier Noir towards the Col de la Temple to enjoy an exceptional panoramic view at the foot of the legendary north faces of Pelvoux, Pic Sans Nom, and Ailefroide.
Alternatively, you can turn off after the "lock" towards the Bosse de la Momie, reaching its viewpoint offering stunning views of Mont Pelvoux, Pic Coolidge, Fifre, and the Barre des Écrins.
For more experienced adventurers, you can head towards the moraine of Glacier Noir towards the Col de la Sagne, then return to the refuge via the Glacier Blanc descent.
Another option is to climb towards the Col des Avalanches, leading to the Temple Écrins Refuge.
And for lovers of steep slopes, take on the Marseillais Couloir, Pic Sans Nom, Coup de Sabre, or Pic Coolidge.
